Galicia #4: SANTIAGO!

We made it into Santiago and it was crazy cool. The first night we all went out for Chinese. At the end we got dessert and Andrew was all excited about his. It was in bad Spanish but he understood that there were peaches. And yet……the peaches were straight out of a can. We all laughed really hard. I had fried pineapple and it was so good so that made it an extra good night for me. We did a pilgrimage the next morning and it was awesome. It wasn’t exactly the whole pilgrimage. That would have been days long. It was really just the last leg. Here is the famous sea shell. Here is photo number 2000 for my camera! We looked out and got mentally prepared for the journey. The Cathedral of Santiago is famous and is on the back of a lot of Spanish Coins. And so we walked. We were the first ones to arrive and the cathedral was pretty impressive. The mass was very entertaining. I was kind of falling asleep though. I did get to hug Santiago afterwards. Here is the cross of Saint James. If you look closely you can see 5 finger marks worn into the column over time right between our shoulders. It used to be that everyone who did the pilgrimage would touch the exact same place on the pillar. Here I am with the Coin and the Cathedral. We wandered around and my spider sense told me to go down a small alley and we ran into the prettiest field ever.We wandered some more and found a cool little park with the perfect old man. After, we hiked to one of the best places ever to eat.I loved it.A few others from the group found it too.It was such a quaint little spot.I think it was my favorite ever. Andrew decided he was a raptor. It was in the middle of a pretty big park so we got a few cool pics.I have a nice butt, huh?So from there we walked around a bit and the group had conflicting desires so we split up. I have found that that is usually better when we don’t have large groups. Whenever too many people are together there are way too many opinions and nothing ever gets done. People spend more time discussing what they want to do than actually doing it. So off we went. This was a pretty cool shopping plaza.Later we went out again to see the sunset and met at the same park thinking that it was a tall enough hill. It wasn’t but we still had a pretty good view.Paige had gotten a new bracelet of saints and such and I was admiring it.So off we went on a hike to the top of the tallest mountain. The view from up there was amazing.Andrew took this picture and it was pretty artsy so I liked it.But here we all are. Here are a few awesome pictures. We headed back to the hotel and it was cool and such. That cool shopping plaza was also cool at night. The next day I straigtened my hair but I didn’t make such a big deal so we didn’t get any pics specifically for the hair. But we went on a walk and found some cool stuff. We found a half pipe and decided to go crazy on it.Andrew even did a back flip. One of my favorite things about Spain is that they have all these parks dedicated to old people therapy. At first they look like little kid parks but after taking a closer look they are like mini gyms that use body weight to work out. We played around there for a while. We got tired and it was such a nice day that we decided to take a rest. There was a pretty cool view from the corner and I was feeling pretty hard core.We walked by a pretty neat gun shop. From there we headed out of Santiago. And, FYI-For those of you who were having trouble following and don’t have a Latin language background, Santiago is Saint James. I just realized that it could have been quite confusing.
